Privacy Policy

What we collect when you play, sign in, and use the Aquarium apps.

1. Information We Collect

This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service, which govern your use of our platform.

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you:

  • Submit fishing data and leaderboard entries
  • Create an account or profile
  • Participate in community features
  • Contact us for support

Types of Information:

  • Fishing Data: Fish types, weights, locations, timestamps, and other game-related statistics
  • Account Information: Steam ID, player names, profile information, and internal profile identifiers
  • Discord Account Information: If you choose to link Discord, we store your Discord user ID (and related display information) to enable Discord bot features and notifications. Linking is optional via the /link command in the Official GONE Fishing Discord server
  • Twitch and Kick Account Information: If you link these services on gonefishing.gg, we store provider user identifiers and usernames shown on your profile
  • Google Account Information: If you sign in or link with Google on the website or mobile app, we store Google's account identifier for your account. We may also store your Google display name, email address, and profile image when Google provides them during sign-in
  • Apple Account Information: If you sign in or link with Apple on the website or mobile app, we store Apple's account identifier for your account. We may also store your name and email address when Apple provides them on first sign-in, including Apple's private relay email addresses
  • Mobile Session Data: If you use the GONE Fishing Aquarium apps, we issue session tokens so you stay signed in. We store the session metadata needed to authenticate API requests
  • Push Notifications: If you allow notifications, we store the device push token, whether the device is iOS or Android, the app bundle id, and when that device was last seen. The token is sent to Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging only to deliver notifications. You can turn categories off in the app, and you can unregister the device
  • Mobile Network and Device Records: On login, cast, and transfer from the apps, we store the IP address, a shortened network prefix, and the user agent. On Android we also store the Android ID. We use these records to investigate feeder accounts, duplicate accounts, and ban evasion
  • Android Device Integrity: The Android app may send a Play Integrity result so we can tell whether it is running on a genuine, unmodified device
  • Presence: While you use Aquarium, we store whether you appear online or away, and when you were last seen
  • Store Diagnostics: The apps do not include our own crash or analytics SDK. Apple App Store Connect and Google Play may still collect the diagnostics those stores collect by default. That collection is covered by Apple's and Google's policies, not by a tracker we add
  • Usage Data: Which pages and API features are used, so we can operate the service
  • Technical Data: IP addresses, browser information, and device information described above

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Maintain and improve our leaderboard and community features
  • Generate statistics and analytics about fish species and fishing patterns
  • Prevent cheating, including feeder accounts, duplicate accounts, and ban evasion
  • Deliver push notifications you have allowed
  • Check that the Android app is running on a genuine device
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
  • Communicate with you about updates and community events
  • Enable Discord bot features and notifications (if Discord account is linked)
  • Authenticate you when you sign in with Google or Apple on the website or mobile app
  • Link multiple sign-in methods to a single GONE Fishing profile when you choose to connect them
  • Ensure the security and integrity of our platform

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties without your consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • Public Leaderboards: Your fishing achievements and statistics are displayed publicly as part of the leaderboard functionality
  • Community Features: Your player name and fishing data may be visible to other community members
  • Discord Bot Integration: If you link your Discord account, your Discord user ID may be used by our Discord bot to enable features and notifications. We do not share your fishing catch data directly with Discord
  • Google and Apple Sign-In: We use Google and Apple only to verify your identity and link your account. We do not sell your Google or Apple sign-in data. Authentication is handled through Google's and Apple's sign-in services; we receive only the account identifiers and profile fields you authorize
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights
  • Service Providers: We may share information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating our platform

4. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

We use industry-standard security practices including encryption, secure servers, and regular security audits to protect your data.

5. Data Retention

We retain your fishing data and account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. We may retain certain information for longer periods for legitimate business purposes, such as maintaining leaderboard integrity and preventing fraud.

Login, cast, and transfer records (IP address, network prefix, user agent, and on Android the Android ID) may be kept after a profile is deleted. We keep them so staff can still see when a new account appears on the same device or network. Play Integrity results tied to an Android device may be kept for the same reason.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access and review your personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Request partial deletion, such as unlinking Google, Apple, Discord, Twitch, or Kick while keeping other profile data
  • Link Discord using /link in the Official GONE Fishing Discord server
  • Unlink Google or Apple from profile settings on gonefishing.gg when available, or request unlinking by email
  • Request Discord, Twitch, or Kick unlinking via email if you cannot do so in settings
  • Turn off push notification categories in the Aquarium app, or ask us to remove a device token
  • Opt out of certain data processing activities
  • Withdraw consent for data processing where applicable

To exercise these rights, email info@gonefishing.gg with your request type (full deletion, partial deletion/unlink, access, or correction) and enough information to verify account ownership (for example, your gonefishing.gg profile URL, Steam ID, and any linked sign-in email).

For account deletion or provider unlinking, please specify which linked services should be removed. Full account deletion may take additional time where records must be retained for fraud prevention, leaderboard integrity, or legal compliance. Network and device records described in the retention section may remain after the profile itself is removed.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our platform. These technologies help us:

  • Keep you signed in
  • Remember your preferences and settings
  • Prevent fraud and maintain security

You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences, though disabling cookies may affect some functionality.

8. Third-Party Services

Our platform may integrate with third-party services, including:

  • Steam: For game identity and catch submissions
  • Discord: For optional Discord account linking and bot features via the /link command in the Official GONE Fishing Discord server
  • Twitch and Kick: For optional profile linking on gonefishing.gg
  • Google: For optional "Sign in with Google" on the website and mobile app, and for Play Integrity checks on Android. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy
  • Apple: For optional "Sign in with Apple" on the website and mobile app, and for delivering iOS push notifications. See Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging: To deliver Android push notifications. We send the device token and the notification payload, not your catch history
  • App Store Connect and Google Play: May collect the crash and usage diagnostics those stores collect by default. The apps do not add a separate analytics or crash-reporting SDK
  • Hosting Services: To store and process your data

These third-party services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and implement appropriate safeguards to protect your information.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
